Nicknamed as ‘water-carrier’ by former French footballer Eric Cantona, Didier Deschamps was the captain of the French national football team that won the 1998 World Cup and the Euro 2000. During his playing days, he captained Marseille to become the first French club to win the UEFA Champions League. He now has a chance to emulate the likes of Mario Zagallo, Franz Beckenbauer, and the join the list of people to have won the World Cup both as a player and as a manager.
