At the 1908 Summer Olympics, field hockey made its debut. Considering the sport was popular only in few countries, only six teams took part. The top three medallists were – England (Gold), Ireland (Silver), Scotland (Bronze) and Wales (Bronze) were the other semi-finalists while Germany and France were the other countries to take part. The three medals are now credited to Great Britain.
