On 23 June 1998, the defending champions Brazil faced Norway at the Stade Vélodrome, Marseille. Things looked good for Brazil when Bebeto gave the South American team the lead with 12 minutes to go barring extra time. Tore André Flo, who was playing for Chelsea at that time scored the equaliser and with less than two minutes to go, Kjetil Rekdal successfully converts the penalty to give Norway a win against Brazil.
