History remembers John Evelyn as a diarist after his writings were first published in 1818. John Evelyn’s diary featured events from 1640 up until his death in 1706 and covered a gamut of topics such as art, politics, and culture. Interestingly, the brand Crabtree & Evelyn (body, fragrance and home care products) gets half of its name from John Evelyn, who was one of the first to write about conservation.
