Udo Jürgens spent more than 60 years as an Austrian composer and singer and also won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1966. It was his third attempt with the song “Merci, Chérie” that won it for him having previously finished sixth (1964 for Warum nur, Warum?) and fourth (1965 for Sag ihr, ich lass sie grüssen).
