There was an air of excitement in the days leading up to the 2004 UEFA Champions League Final as for the first time in Champions League (since 1992) neither teams came from the Big four European countries. AS Monaco, playing their first finals fancied their chances against Jose Mourinho’s Porto. In the end, Porto was too good and they took their second European title in two years having previously won the UEFA Cup (now Europa League) the year before.
