As of 2019, only Valencia (for a team that has never won the Champions League) holds the record of appearing in successive finals of the European Cup/Champions League without winning either. They lost to Real Madrid in 2000 and to Bayern Munich in 2001. Juventus appeared in the finals three times in a row. They won the 1996 edition and lost the next two editions.
