The 1954 Mercedes is one of the dominant cars that ever took the field in the annals of Formula One. The W196 designed by Rudolf Uhlenhaut was a beast in the hands of the maestro driver Juan Manuel Fangio. The car suited to high-speed tracks (straights and slow corners) was demonstrated in Mercedes winning the races at Reims, Nürburgring, and Monza, where Fangio lapped every driver en route to winning his second driver’s title.
