Today’s Google doodle celebrates the feat of Wanda Rutkiewicz, the 41st anniversary of her reaching the top of Everest. The Polish mountaineer graduated as an electrical engineer and took interest in climbing and is the first woman to successfully climb the notorious K2. She died while realising her goal (first woman) of climbing all the 14 of the eight-thousanders.
