Sarala Ghosal founded the organisation Bharat Stree Mahamandal in 1910, which was India’s first women organisation. The organisation was spread across undivided British India focussed on women’s education. Her autobiography Jivaner Jhara Pata was published in a magazine and later translated into English by Sikata Banerjee under the title ‘The Scattered Leaves of my Life’.
