Grazia Deledda was an Italian writer who hailed from Nuoro, a city in Sardinia. Her writings included the cultural aspects and traditions of Sardinian people and her themes involved women’s pain and suffering. She was the first Italian woman to receive the Nobel prize and second woman after Selma Lagerlöf to receive Nobel Prize in Literature.
