If one has to choose a venue for playing a debut European Cup final, there is none better than home. AS Roma qualified for the finals at the 1984 European Cup against Liverpool, who were playing their fourth European Cup finals, and with a 100% final record. The match ended 1-1 and then went to extra time before being settled via penalties which went in favour of Liverpool 4-2.
