Diamond Lil is a 1928 play that starred Mae West, who wrote and acted in it. After the enforcement of Hays Code, the play was deemed controversial and it took a serveral amount of cuts to the script and a non-reference to the play that finally got approved. She Done Him Wrong when released in 1933 was a box-office success and at 66 minutes, it remains the shortest film ever to be nominated for an Academy Award for Outstanding Production (now Best Picture).
