The band Ides of March began as a four-member band called ‘The Shon-Dels’ in 1964. Two years later, the bassist Bob Bergland suggested the name change to ‘Ides of March’ after reading Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar in high school. Between 1973 and 1990, the band was on hiatus and at that time the co-founder Jim Peterik went on to form the band Survivor and co-wrote their hit ‘Eye of the Tiger’.
