Games People Play: The Psychology of Human Relationships is a bestseller from the 1960s written by Eric Berne, a psychiatrist. In 1969, Joe South penned the lyrics for the song ‘Games People Play’ supposedly inspired by the book and sang the song as well. The song became a hit just as the book and it won him Best Song of the Year and the Best Contemporary Song at the Grammys.
