In 2003, the 1965 novel Dune was rated as the world’s best-selling science fiction novel. The success of this novel paved way for Frank Herbert to write five sequels – Dune Messiah, Children of Dune, God Emperor of Dune, Heretics of Dune and Chapterhouse: Dune. The ‘Dune’ saga was inspired by the Oregon Dunes, near Florence, Oregon and six years of research resulted in the novel.
