If you exclude the 1953 Indianapolis 500, then Alberto Ascari extended his consecutive win tally to eight when he won the 1953 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort. The Argentine driver Roberto Mieres made his Grand Prix at this race. He had a modest career that earned him 13 points with no podiums and one fastest lap. However, he is part of the unique list of Formula One drivers who have competed at the Olympics. After his racing career ended he represented his country in the 1960 Summer Olympics in sailing. He competed in Star Class and finished 17th, consolation being beating his fellow racing driver Prince Bira.
