In 1978, Liverpool met the Belgian club Club Brugge at Wembley, whom they had previously met at the 1976 UEFA Cup final. Brugge was the first Belgian team to play the finals and a second-half goal by Kenny Daglish was enough to secure Liverpool their second title in two years and thereby become the first English club to win two European Cup titles.
