Carl Spitteler was a Swiss poet who published his 1881 poem Prometheus and Epimetheus under the pseudonym Carl Felix Tandem. His well-known poem Olympischer Frühling that dealt with religion, mythology, fantasy, and naturalistic themes. One of this notable final works was an essay ‘Under Schweizer Standpunkt’ where he opposed the pro-German attitude of his countrymen from the Swiss German speaking part. He was the first Swiss to win the Nobel Prize in Literature.
