Hello, Dolly! a 1964 musical was adapted from the two versions of a play by the same writer Thornton Wilder. The 1955 version The Matchmaker was the revised and retitled version of his 1938 work The Merchant of Yonkers. Jerry Herman scored the music for 1964 musical and the Louis Armstrong’s rendering of the song Hello, Dolly! won both Jerry Herman and Armstrong the Grammys for 1964. Louis Armstrong also appeared in the 1969 movie musical in which he sang the song alongside Barbara Streisand and it turned out to be his final movie appearance.
