Ellen Wood was an English novelist in the 19th century who is well-known internationally for her 1861 novel ‘East Lynne’. In 1931, the novel was adapted to screen starring Ann Harding and Clive Brook. The movie was a Pre-Code film and earned a Best Picture nomination in 1931.
