Siddhartha is a Hermann Hesse classic that describes the spiritual journey of a man named Siddhartha at the time of Gautama Buddha. Hesse dedicated this novel to Romain Rolland, the French dramatist, and novelist, as “my dear friend”. Among many works, Rolland is known to this day for his 10-volume novel Jean-Christophe for which he won a Nobel Prize in Literature in 1915.
