Chicago reporters Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur came together and wrote a play that became a runaway hit in 1928. They gave it the name ‘The Front Page’. A film version of the same name was produced by Howard Hughes in 1931 that earned one of the Best Picture nominees that year. Over the years, the play has been modified into Howard Hawks’ ‘His Girl Friday’, and remade with the original name in 1974 starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau and as Switching Channels starring Burt Reynolds, Kathleen Turner, and Christopher Reeve.
