Exodus is a 1960 movie that is about the founding of Israel in its modern state. Otto Preminger directed the movie and based it on the 1958 novel of the same name by Leon Uris. The instrumental theme was provided by Ernest Gold and the theme’s popularity earned Gold the Academy Award for Best Original Score and a Grammy Award for the Song of the Year, thereby becoming the only instrumental song to win Song of the Year till date.
