‘The Battle of New Orleans’ is a song written by Jimmy Driftwood and it talks about the events of the 1812 Battle of New Orleans from the view of an American soldier. Among many remakes and covers, Johnny Horton’s version is best-known and it reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1959. It won the Grammy for ‘Record of the Year’ in 1960.
