In 1970, the second year in succession a Dutch club was in the finals of the European Cup football championships. This time around it was the Rotterdam based team Feyenoord who took on Celtic. Celtic were favourites to win the tournament and they went ahead in the first 30 minutes. Thanks to Marinus Israel’s equaliser the Dutch team came back and in the overtime Bengt Ove Kindvall scored which was enough to seal the win for Feyenoord, and became the first Dutch club to win the European Cup.
