Rudolf Eucken had a penchant for philosophy. His works concentrated on applying the vital religious inspiration to the practical everyday ailments of the society. Such an approach he described it as ‘ethical activism’. He was awarded the 1908 Nobel Prize in literature for having developed an idealistic philosophy of life through his writings.
