Derived from the local language meaning ‘gold’ (auksas), Lithuania’s one of the two former currencies was auksinas. The German Ostmark was in circulation from 1918 to 1922 before they were replaced by ‘litas’ until the beginning of 2015. They shifted to Euros in 2015.
