The 1927 movie Seventh Heaven was directed by Frank Borzage and was adapted to screen based on the 1922 play of the same name. Borzage went on to become the only director to win an Oscar for the Best Director of a Dramatic Picture (there was another award for Comedy). Janet Gaynor, 23, at that time won the Best Actress and held the record for the youngest actress until Marlee Matlin won it in 1987.
