Spondias dulcis also known as ‘Ambarella’ is a tropical tree native to South Asia and was introduced to Central America in the 18th century. The fruit from the tree is used to prepare sauces, stews, soups, and pickles. The English name ‘Ambarella’ is derived from Sinhalese and from Sanskrit word, अम्बरेल्ला.
