Laleh Seddigh is one of the most famous sportswomen in Iran. Although she had her driving license, she needed special permission from an ayatollah in order to compete against men. Since motorsports were deemed a non-contact sport, she was given permission. Her story was featured in a 2008 BBC documentary called Girl Racer. For her motorsports exploits, she earned the nickname ‘Female Schumacher’.
