Laleh Seddigh is one of the most famous sportswomen in Iran. Although she had her driving license, she needed a special permission from an ayatollah in order to compete against men. Since motorsports were deemed a non-contact sport, she was given the permission. Her story was featured in a 2008 BBC documentary called Girl Racer. For her motorsports exploits, she earned the nickname ‘Female Schumacher’.
