Joyce Carol Oates is an American writer who wrote the 2000 novel Blonde. The fictional account chronicles the life of Marilyn Monroe and was one of the finalists at the 2001 Pulitzer Prize. In 2001, the novel was adapted into a mini-series of the same name. Poppy Montgomery played the role of Marilyn Monroe.
