A year after Jody Scheckter won the 1979 F1 driver’s championship, he failed to secure a single podium position. In fact, his performance was so dismal that he retired in four races and his best finish was fifth place in the US West GP. He finished 19th in the driver’s standings and retired at the end of the season.
