In 2007, Doris Lessing was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. The British novelist, at the age of 88 thus became the oldest person ever to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature. The previous record-holder was Theodor Mommsen, who was 85 when he won the award in 1902.
