In the 1930’s, Emil Jannings became a state actor for Nazi propaganda movies. A personal favourite of Hitler’s he won many decorations. After the War, he was investigated and de-Nazified. He became an Austrian citizen and died in 1950. He was the first to win Best Actor Oscar.
