FACT FOOD #1121

St. Stanislaus Seminary was a Jesuit run society located in Florissant, Missouri. It was founded in 1823 and was named after Stanislaus Kostka, a Polish novice of the Society of Jesus. It was closed in 1971. Interesting fact about this society was that, during the prohibition, the winery run by the Jesuits of St. Stanislaus was not shut because they produced Sacramental wine (altar wine).
