The Battle of Quebec fought in 1759 between Great Britain and France was a showdown to determine which of these two colonial powers would rule North America. France suffered the defeat and Britain gained several territories and that included the occupation of Quebec City. The battle was fought on a land owned by a farmer called Abraham Martin, hence, the other name of this battle, Battle of the Plains of Abraham.
