Frances Perkins became the first woman to be appointed to the U.S. Cabinet. In 1933, she served as the Secretary of Labor and served until 1945, thereby making her the longest-serving Secretary of Labor. She was one of the few people to serve for the entire duration of FDR’s Presidency.
