Born Saloth Sar, he raised to the position of a ‘dictator’ in 1975 when he fought against the Cambodian Government. His 4-year stay at the helm came to an end in 1979 when Vietnam invaded Cambodia. Pol Pot, on the run, was involved in the affairs of Cambodia though not directly until his death in 1998. He became interested in ‘communist’ practices during his stay in Paris.
