Due to their stellar performances, the production team of All About Eve suggested Anne Baxter be placed in ‘Best Supporting Actress’ category and Bette Davis in ‘Best Actress’ to maximise the chances of winning both trophies. Anne Baxter refused, both were nominated for ‘Best Actress’ – however, Judy Holliday took home the Best Actress Oscar!
