Dr. Frederic Eugene Foley was a 20th-century American urologist who lends his name to a flexible tube known as ‘Foley Catheter’. The name became popular in the 1930’s when C.R. Bard Company used the name to distribute the catheters. In addition, Dr. Foley also has the distinction of inventing a type of hydraulic operating table and a rotatable resectoscope.
