In the history of Academy Awards, there have been a handful of people from Asian origin who have been nominated in the acting category. Among the men are, Sessue Hayakawa, Mako Iwamatsu, Pat Morita, Haing S. Ngor, Ben Kingsley, Ken Watanabe, Dev Patel – only Ben Kingsley has been nominated in the Best Actor category (twice) and won it for Gandhi. Haing S. Ngor won the Best Supporting Actor for The Killing Fields.
