Frank Bunker Gilberth, Jr, and his sister Ernestine Gilbert Carey were two of the twelve children Frank Gilberth and his wife Lillian Gilberth raised. Cheaper by the Dozen is a biographical account of their lives which was published in 1948. Two years later, they came up with a sequel titled ‘Belles on Their Toes’. Both these novels were adapted into movies twice and also as stage plays.
