Movies became a source of entertainment during the Depression of late 1920’s. To build on its popularity, William R. Wilkerson started Hollywood’s first newspaper that combined daily trade and entertainment. He named it ‘The Hollywood Reporter’, which became a hit for his Tradeviews column.
