Nikos Kazantzakis created a furor among many in the Christian community due to his book ‘The Last Temptation’ published in Greek in 1955. Its English translation came five years later. In the 1980’s, the famed director Martin Scorsese took on the material and released an equally controversial movie ‘The Last Temptation of Christ’, which earned him a nomination for Best Director at the Oscars.
