Gannett Peak (4,209m) and Grand Teton (4,199m) happen to be two highest peaks in the U.S State of Wyoming. The Gannett Peak’s first ascent took place in 1922 by A. Tate and F. Stahlnaker while there are no exact records as to when the first ascent took place for Grand Teton. Teton also happens to be the name of the members of Western Sioux people and gets its name from Dakota ‘titonwan’ meaning ‘dwellers on the prairie’. I am not sure if this inspired the name Grand Teton!
