FACT FOOD #950

I am sure many of you have heard about the plight of the flightless birds named ‘Dodo’ that was in existence in Mauritius until the 17th century. What happened? It was eaten into extinction courtesy of two shipwrecked Dutch mariners. One of them, Volkert Evertszoon wrote about them – “Instead of wings they had small flaps. And instead of running away, they came closer to rescue the caught ones.” Three months later, dodos ceased to exist.
