David Ivor Davies was one of the popular British entertainers and he was famously known by the name Ivor Novello. He appeared in two of Alfred Hitchcock’s silent movies in the late 1920’s. The annual Ivor Novello Awards (The Ivors) are presented annually since 1955 to honour excellence in music writing. The Award is a bronze sculpture of Euterpe, the muse of lyric poetry in Greek mythology.
