Born as Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, she released her first music album titled ‘Katy Hudson’ in 2001. To avoid confusion with the Hollywood actress ‘Kate Hudson’, she changed her name briefly for Katheryn Perry, before settling for Katy Perry, where ‘Perry’ happens to be mother’s maiden name.
